King Limousine
King Limousine is Philadelphia’s largest provider of limousine transportation services. As a 24/7/365 service provider, King Limousine needed a system in place that just could not be down under any circumstances. With aging hardware, upgrading systems to meet business requirements would have been enormously expensive. King Limousine needed a high availability solution at a time when IT budgets were being scaled back due to economic conditions.
Solution
Lantium implemented its MSP+ Cloud Solution. All applications running on King Limousine’s 8 servers were consolidated and virtualized into Lantium’s tier 1 data center. All work was performed over a weekend with nearly no downtime. 31 users then had full access to perform their job functions from any Internet location worldwide.
Results
King Limousine now has high availability, reduced downtime, and easy scalability as the company continues to grow. Over the next five years, King Limousine will save more than 50% over the cost of building and maintaining an in house network with an initial first year savings of more than $63,000.
Liftex
Background
Liftex manufactures and globally markets a line of synthetic, chain and wire rope slings. The company has been in business for more than 55 years.
Challenge
Maintaining up-to-the-minute, reliable data at all times to be accessed by its four U.S. locations is paramount for Liftex. To do this successfully, Liftex had to marry old and new technology, sometimes finding that the two did not work seamlessly together.
For example, data was centralized at the company’s Warminster, PA location and was accessed remotely by employees across Liftex locations using legacy software. Unfortunately, the software was not very tolerant of even brief breaks in the remote connection. If remote offices had even a minor, temporary connection problem, they not only would lose time waiting for the connection to return, but also would lose any data they had entered that had not yet been saved on the system.
Solution
Lantium provided a managed server solution that improves recovery from communications problems. Lantium hosts Liftex data remotely at a Tier 1 data center (DBSi), managing and monitoring the server around the clock to proactively identify and address any network issues before they cause costly downtime. Lantium’s solution provides redundancy for Liftex’s infrastructure and ensures a full backup and quick recovery from an outage.
Results
The managed services solution from Lantium reduces downtime and speeds up recovery from communication interruptions between remote offices and their main location in Warminster, not to mention eliminates the frustration and inefficiency of data loss. With this solution, all of Liftex’s offices now have access to the same system, software and desktop, ensuring that they receive reliable, up-to-the-minute data.
In addition, with its data hosted by Lantium, Liftex enjoys several cost advantages. Liftex has no servers to upgrade, and new software can be deployed easily and inexpensively. With the advantage of one predictable monthly subscription fee, future costs are now fixed on a flat rate.
